Subject: Masking or Custom Mount Openings?

What do you folks do if you want other than 50x50 in an MF mount?

For my own purposes I would prefer 50 x 37, since I have 4:3 aspect
ratio material.

Do people make masks to insert (like the old days in 35mm mounting), or
does anyone make mounts with custom openings?

Thanks,

I'd like to speak up for a mount size that I've found to be amazingly useful: 50X45. This
is essentially half way between the landscape and square mounts that are widely available.
A few years back when I was ordering some mounts from Paul Talbot he suggested I try a
pack of these. I found that many of the shots that I might have put in a landscape mount
because of foreground obstructions would work in these and I'd lose less of the film area.
I just used my last one mounting a shot I took of the Liffey river in Dublin at twilight.
There was a wall I was shooting over and a little of it got in the bottom of the image. I
wouldn't have been able to use a 50X50 mount, but it was great having those extra
millimeters of the purple sky visible.

Of course after using these I immediately asked Paul for more and he told me this had just
been a limited experimental run. If possible I'd be glad to place a custom order for a
bunch of these.
