I am sorry, I do not understand why we have to host the list at UNH when
yahoogroups seems to work fine and it is easier for people to find.

Thank you,

A secret discussion list.

That would be great for the promotion of Medium format stereo photography.

Yes. In my opinion, the first rule is fine, but the second rule is too
restrictive. The real problem seems to be that the e-mail address of the
list is getting into the hands of spammers.

How about this solution?: If we kept the list's e-mail address out of the
archives in addition to not posting it elsewhere, there would be no need
to follow the second rule. The archive address could be published without
concern for spamming and the list wouldn't be a "secret" list.

This action would have to be accompanied by the use of a different e-mail
address to which potential subscribers must request membership. That
address, not the list's e-mail address, would be published in the archive
and would therefore be open to spamming, but the unpublished list address
would be protected from spamming. Only the administrator of this
alternate e-mail address would supply new members with the address of the
list itself. As long as everyone follows rule #1, and we keep the list's
address out of the archive, the list wouldn't be as vulnerable to spamming
as it has been.
