3D by Dalia is listing the improved TL120ii on their website for $1,315.00

http://tinyurl.com/zm6mb

They also say that the camera can be ordered directly from the factory for the same price.
Delivery in either case is approximately 3 weeks.

Here's some information from Dalia's site regarding the warranty:

"Each camera comes complete with a One Year - Manufacturer's Warranty. The Warranty
and Repair Facility is at the factory in China. By keeping the Warranty and Repair Facility at
the factory, and not opening facilities in North America and Europe - the camera is able to
be priced hundreds of dollars less than what would have been necessary.

Should warranty work ever become necessary, consumer must pay for shipping to the
factory. Warranty work, and return shipping is paid by the manufacturer. If the camera is
purchased from 3Dstereo, the consumer still pays for the shipping back to the factory, but
can merely ship it to 3Dstereo and 3Dstereo will handle the international shipping and
Customs documentation. Repaired or replaced camera is returned directly by the factory to
the consumer."

I wonder who else is going to be selling the camera. Is there a Doctor in the house?

This price was originally intended to include the camera, mounting jig,
one viewer and 10 mounts. I don't see any of that mentioned on Dalia's
site. In fact I don't see the mounting jig anywhere. I was able to see
and use it at Miami and really liked it so I hope the package deal is
real.

Yes, thanks for thinking of me Jim! :)

I do plan to sell this camera myself, but I am not sure of the terms (if
they will be similar to 3dstereo.com's or not).

About the warranty repair work, I was asked by 3D World if I wanted to be
the repair service in the USA, and I agreed to that, but I have not heard
anything lately or made any final agreements regarding this. I will contact
them and I will let you know.

Stereoscopy reported from Photokina in passing that 3D world
had two sizes of their MF mounts, 52mm and 54 mm. I'll take
and enjoy that extra 8% of image area and both my Rollei and
the 3D WOrld camera shoot large enough to use it.

The 54mm mounts are the old ones that were incorrectly spaced 65mm apart.

Unfortunately the jig is not well designed in its current form, so I
wouldn't recommend it except as a collectible. Hopefully a better
designed one will come out soon.

Does anyone have an idea of what the shipping charges will be? I noticed
that customs fees are involved. Are we talking hundreds of dollars?

I believe the price is net at 3dstereo's store in the USA. Freight from
there to you is extra.

There may be brokerage fees involved but
there is no actual duty charged on a Chinese
built camera coming into the US.

I tried posting this once but it never showed up so here goes again.

Sam, what is it specifically you don't like about the jig or want to
see changed? Is it just that it cannot accommodate the cardboard mounts?

I went to the 3D World website to see if they had an image of the jig
and couldn't find one. However I see that they now have 12 different
colors for the STL viewer including three simulated woodgrains (a
light, medium, and dark).

Dr. T. - do you have any of these in stock? I am curious to know what
the look like in person.

Thanks,

Can you relate some of your concerns? Is it just the design that won't
accommodate cardboard mounts or is it something else?

For those that the haven't seen one it is just basically one of their STL
viewers mounted over a light box. There is a bit more to it, but that is
the general idea.

I just checked and couldn't find an image of it on their site, but low
and behold they now have 12 different colors for their viewers including
three simulated wood grains. A light called "light brown", a medium
called "peach wood like" and a dark called "graininess". Here is the
direct link to that page:

http://www.3dworld.cn/ep_show.asp?id=57

They sure seem to be forging ahead with this.

It's simply not well suited for mounting, more of an afterthought than
a fully realized component. No focus, light too bright, extremely
bulky, doesn't accommodate glasses, just plain awkward. Furthermore,
the edges of the mounting glass are sharp and jutt out above the
mount. You would scratch the film if you used it as-is! The grids are
annoying and distracting. There is no means of adjusting the chips,
one of the reasons for using a jig in the first place. Nothing to keep
the film flat. I have proposed a more practical solution.

I guess taking a quick look at it (like I did) on a dealer's table with
an already mounted image was not the best way to judge it *{;-)

It's a good thing we have dedicated people like you and John Thurston to
really scrutinize these things for us.

Ack! A bright light is a problem?

I've never met a light that was too bright
that couldn't be attenuated with an extra
diffuser or filter.

OTOH, a light that is too dim can be impossible
to "brighten".

I have seen the mounting jig and hope to
soon to be able to share my comments on it.
I can state here that "too bright a light"
will not be one of them :)
