I see in George's ebay auction for his TL120 that
there are a couple of differences from mine:
* Inclusion of an eye-cup to the viewfinder
* Silver plates of some kind on the bottom

Does anyone else have these items on their camera?
They eye-cup looks handy to me. George, can you
elaborate any on those silver plates? What function
do they seem to serve?

It appears that it is a reinforcement for the tripod screw hole of the
camera. Maybe they felt that this was a weak point, given the camera's
weight, that needed reinforcement?

Yes, my camera has those two.

I would assume the silver plate is to keep tripod mounts from scuffing
up/wearing out the plastic bottom of the camera.

Also the viewfinder on my camera slides in real tight and the lock really
holds it. I have no worries at all about it coming loose or falling off
no matter what position I hold it in. And believe me I checke dthis out
thoroughly as I will be carrying this camera in caves in all sorts of un-
humanly positions. I do not know if this is an improvement or just in my
particular camera.

I don't know if the older version also had a diopter on the viewfinder,
but mine does.

Thanks,

I must be mis-understanding, Dave. A diopter
is a measure of lens focal length, isn't it?

You've just written, "it has a unit of measure
on the viewfinder" that makes as much sense to
me as saying, "my car has amps on the hood".

I've *got* to be missing something here :(

Here is a quote from an FAQ on the Internet:

So in the case of my TL120 there is a round knob on the viewfinder just
behind that new rubber eye cup that allows you to focus the image.

Does that make sense?

Looks like more variations.

In DrT's pictures there appears to be 4 LEDS in the viewfinder where
mine only has three. What does the fourth one do? Also there are three
contacts along the bottom where mine has two recessed along the upper
edge. The bottom winders appear to be silver instead of black now.
Along with eye shield, diopter adjustment, and tripod reinforcement,
that's a lot of changes, and my camera is only a month old. Makes me
want to take a quick $100 hit and get a new model. Trouble is that
until I would get the new one, they will probably have added auto focus
and aperture priority, and then I would really be pissed. Probably
improve the mounter also.

Good point Dale :) If I were you, I would just enjoy what I have now... and
a year later sell it and upgrade to the latest model. I would expect that
within a year they would have solved all the bugs and finalize any changes.

now _that_ makes sense. A diopter adjustment.
