I finally had a chance to mount up my first roll from the TL120-1. I
decided to see what all the fuss was about the 3D World mounting jig. I
must say that I fully agree with all the negative comments - I found it
to be all but unusable in its curent state.

I do see possiblities with the modifications that others have already
mentioned:

1) Add a shim to raise the mount so those sharp edges won't possibly
scratch the film.

2) Add a focus adjustment to the viewer.

3) Add a hinge or swivel to the viewer so it can be flipped or swung out
of the way.

On another note I did remove the led light source (the circuit panel is
just spring loaded in its holder) and used it to light up the STL viewer.
That worked really well except for the fact that it needs to be quite
some distance away from the difuser or you can see the individual leds. I
can see great possibilities with an led light source for viewers.

PS - the images came out fine (much better than what is posted on my
site) but with using f5.6 in some the dof really sucks! Looks like there
will be very few hand-held shots in the future as I will be using f16 or
f22 almost exclusively. That is until the much rumored ProviaX 400
finally shows up.

Thanks,

Considering the fast changes that keep occurring with the TL-120, I'm
sure that improvements to the mounter will soon follow. Having little
and previously frustrating experience with MF mounting, the simple mods
I made to the TL-120 mounter and my procedure has made mounting
accurate, enjoyable, and almost as quick as with my 35mm SAM mounter.
The adhesive strips do leave a residue if you reposition, so make sure
your first chip is where you want it.

I flocked my lenses today and it was very quick and easy using a Lens
Pen as was suggested. whether it does something or not, it's done. I
am curious that some have not gotten any flaring while others have
gotten multiple flared shots in typically flare proof behind the camera
lighting. The fact that one person eliminated the flaring with flocking
is a good sign, but is there something else going on in just certain
cameras?

I have just finished my battery powered LED light box attachment for
the 3D World viewer. I've tried to post some photos of the end result
on the photos section but I keep getting a message saying "network
error". I get as far as creating the album but it won't accept my
photos.

Any volunteers out there to post my photos somewhere for me? Or any
suggestions on how I can get my photos through to the album? I was
successful with some of the shots of lens flare, but since then, I
cannot get any photos through.

regards

Harry.

John Thurston has kindly agreed to help me getting some photos on
display for you to see my attempts at the LED light project. I've
also sent him some shots of my mounting jig. It makes use of parts
from the 3D World jig which I took apart and used in both projects.

regards

Harry.

I've taken the images and text Harry sent me and
placed them on the web for others to view.

http://www.alaska.net/~thurston/viewer/IlluminatedViewer.htm

I hope to get Harry's project moved over to my
main pages at stereo.thurstons.us but that will
take a while. If I remove this page, I'll let
y'all know.

Errors in content are Harry's. Errors in HTML
are mine :) Please let me know OFF LIST if you
see any problems and I'll get them corrected asap.
