In my experience the use of the sepia developer has no bearing on exposure settings.
The tonal range and smoothness is at least equal to slides processed with developer 1.
The sepia toned slides are just so beautiful that the last thing that crosses my mind when I
look at them is tourist traps and cliches. Of course I've mostly used the sepia developer
for images I've taken in the inherently cliched, tourist trap city of Las Vegas, and I have
been going for an "old time" feel with those shots.

Well, my intended subject for B&W sepia-toned stereo slides is caves.
Although many caves have beautifully colored formations in them, the
majority are predominately earth-toned hues. It is my thought that going
to a monochrome image will let the viewer concentrate on the shapes and
textures of the cave and going to sepia will actually give the viewer
more of a sense of "being there" than a grey scale image and without
reliance on color. This is coming from the perspective of a long-time
caver who sees cave environments that way, especially in my early days of
carbide lamp illumination on lava tube walls.

I really don't think I will need to worry about my images being something
the majority of viewers will be familiar with *{;-)
