Subject: Feedback for 3D World MF camera

I would like to share with you feedback that I recently received from two
customers, regarding the MF camera:

1. Since bought my TL-120 from you I have never taken so many
photographs. The TL-120 has given me 100% success with perfect exposure every
time. The only problem I have experienced is the film advance lever will not
auto return.I have contacted the China factory, who have been superb,a true
revelation with their customer service.

2. My TL-120-1 arrived safely today - Saturday the 14th. I already shot a
roll of Provia 100 and processed it. All I can say is... WOW!!! I am
totally blown away. The images are absolutely breathtaking. How will I ever
be satisfied shooting with anything else? I can only pray that 3D WORLD
produces a projector some day!!! Thanks sooooo much for your excellent
service.

Someone on this list stated that they used a Hqasselblad 45 degree
viewfinder on their Tl-120 and really liked it. So I got one on Ebay
for about $35. I thought it would make it easier to hold and shoot the
camera, and it does that a little bit. What I really like is the great
eye relief and image magnification. The image through the Hassey
viewfinder is like looking through the 3D World plastic viewer at a
slide, rather than down a short tunnel at a smaller image like the
standard TL-120 viewfinder.

Does the internal metering still work with the Hasselblad finder? What about focusing?

Thanks.

Yes, the focusing screen and LEDs remain in the TL-120 body. I also got
a waist level viewfinder from a Kiev-88 for $15 that works really well.

The focusing screen, sure, makes sense. The fact
that the LEDs are also in the body is perfectly true.
But I'd be super-surprised if the LEDs will mean
anything without the 3D-World finder on the camera.
It is my understanding that the light sensors which
feed the metering circuit are in the prism finder
(the little contacts on the edge of the finder and
housing are to transfer that information back to
the meter circuit).

I don't understand how the meter in the TL-120
could work correctly without the TL-120 finder
installed on it. Can someone 'splain this to me?

Easy explanation, John. You're right and I'm wrong. The metering will
not work with a waist level or other viewfinder. I think the newest
TL120 versions have three contacts at the back of the prism instead of
the two in the front(lens side)of the older versions. Also there is now
a fourth LED so I wondered if any metering type or weighting has changed
as a result, or if this is the groundwork for a future change.

I have a "two-contact" TL-120. About the time I
got mine, I was told by 3D-World that they were
re-working the metering. I suspect they have
gone from having one-sensor in the prism to having
two (three contacts instead of two). I suspect
this lets them do a "center weighted" metering.

I chose to have them ship me a camera asap rather
than accept their offer of waiting for camera
with the newer metering.
