Hi all,

I just got back from a little camping trip with my daughter in
Waterton Provincial Park, Alberta Canada. I couldn't get the angle I
wanted for a shot of the frozen Cameron Lake, so I felt I only had two
options, forget it or get in it. My 11-year old Miranda snapped this
picture:

I only hope the picture was worth the effort!

So you are out in the snow and frozewn water wearing cotton pants, a
cotton t-shirt, and a cotton sweatshirt? Not exactly the proper clothing
for the conditions is it? *{;-)

Here is a picture of me taken yesterday by my friend Sam Lair. It is a
lava tube cave in Southern Idaho with fantastic formations. I should have
the images back tomorrow. This is the first time I have taken the TL120
in cave. It seems to have survived thrip pretty well even though I have
yet to find a hard case that it will fit in.

Sam:

The most important question is, "How did you get your daughter
to go on a photo shoot with you?" My kids didn't even want to
be seen in public with me (grin).

Miranda --- isn't she named after a camera?

Miranda's going to have to work on her cha-cha. I couldn't get those to
fuse at all.

Nice document shots of a dedicated (read: insane) 3Der. I, for one,
understand, and respect you for it.

Hey, this is a like sauna in Canada. Obviously from Dave's picture, it
was the appropriate stereo shooting apparel. Also notice the other
stereographer similarity of grey hair? Must be all the stress of
figuring out appropriate depth calculations!

Yeah, we do kindof stick out in public areas. She typically walks a
little farther behind. Miranda was my first 35mm camera. Thank
goodness it wasn't a boy though. Little Sputnik would surely have had
a hard time at recess!

Rollei wouldn't be much better. Perhaps RBT (pronounced "Robert")?
Or Sony (pronounced "Sonny"). Or maybe Kody (short for Kodak)?

I think you made the right choice with Miranda. Holga wouldn't be so
great. And Wirgin would be worse. -Linda

I'd think a boy named for Kodak would be George.

By the way, it would be nice to see the pictures being discussed, but
some of us do not have Yahoo accounts.

True, but we are talking about camera names, not inventor names.
Another poor name choice might be "Brownie" , especially if one
lives (or lived) in the New Orleans area (as in, "Brownie, you're
doing a heck of a job".)

I am curious why you choose not to have one? I find it to be a
convenience, and not terribly much trouble to go through all the
opt-outs with Yahoo. Do you find the sign up process to be too
intrusive? -Linda

1) I don't like Yahoo's Terms of Service, or their privacy policy.

2) I almost never allow cookies, and then only to very well trusted
sites (e.g., sunsolve.sun.com).

3) Besides all the cookies Yahoo wants, other aspects of their web
design are also pathetic.

For giggles I tried Sam's links and watched a "please
login"/redirect loop start up before I killed the page. They saw
that a cookie wasn't set and rather than redirect to a page
mentioning the need for cookies, they redirected right back to the
page that checked to see if the cookie was set.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

4) Yahoo treats mailing lists as web pages and puts all sorts of crap
in them. (See the recent ballooning of the message size in
photo-3d (a list that supposedly doesn't have attachments) for an
example.)

5) You should never have to opt-out. If you want to receive other
unrelated information, or allow your information to be shared, you
should opt-in.

For these, and other reasons, I choose not to support Yahoo by getting
an account.

Here is a link to my site and the image of me and my TL120 in a cave:

http://www.dddphotography.com/images/TL120cave.jpg

Warning it is a 2D image taken by my friend Sam Lair with his digital
camera.

No that is just some cave dust covering my naturally dark hair *{;-)
