Well, I think I have my first problem with my TL120 (version 2?).

I took it out today and all I get on the meter reading is the top light
which is a red A. The second red +, the middle green dot, or the last red
- do not light up no matter what I do with the settings. I have moved the
viewfinder around but that makes no difference. In fact I get that red A
without the viewfinder in at all. The batteries are fine and the shutter
still works at all speeds.

Any idea of what may be the problem?

Thanks,

Sorry if this isn't helpful, but the problem is that it is a cheaply
built Chinese camera. My coin operated viewers have flashing LED
lights at the bottom of the head unit which are designed to attract
attention. Out of three viewers I have opened, only one has had all
five LED lights function. Even the LED panels used for the
backlighting have been just as unreliable. Out of six panels I own,
four work properly and the other two each have a single bank of
three LEDs which do not work. Given how reliable LED lights are
meant to be, it tells me that the workmanship in putting it all
together is very ordinary.

As for my own camera, the LEDs in the light meter still work, but
the meter itself is very erratic and is at least one stop out. I
use my own judgement or a separate light meter now.

regards,

Harry.

Hi David,

I have had the same problem (or VERY similar) with my TL120.

Additionally, I had a few other concerns and reported them all to 3d World. They had
me ship the camera back at their expense and are now servicing it.

Their concern and communications have been very admirable.

I would try contacting them...

Best regards,

Randy

I have used a light meter with my Heidescop and used it today with the
TL120 so a non-working meter is not a big problem. It is quite a
convenience though to have it right there in the viewfinder and metering
all the time.

Today there were a lot of fast moving clouds and everytime I would get a
handheld meter reading the sun would go behind or come out from a cloud
before I could get the shot off.

By the way, I was shooting my last two rolls of Tech pan and will be
sending them to DR5 for reverse developing. I am anxious to see how they
look compared to the home developed ones I shot with the Heidescop.

Hi David,

My contact's name is Cuca.  Her address is: linlan3dworld@gmail.com

They are now off for the weekend. And remember, she will respond China time...

which is late evening our time.

Boy do I feel stupid.

Before deciding to send my TL120 back to China to have the light meter
fixed - it was stuck on the top red led light which reads A - I decided
to see if putting new batteries in it would do anything. Guess what -
works perfectly now.

So I am assuming this top led light that reads A is to let you know when
the battery is low (my shutter still seemed to work fine at all speeds).

Thanks,

David;

Before this problem occured did you experinece any 'bad' readings from the meter - off by 1 or 2 stops from the obvious? THings like that? That's what's going on with me - and I"m wondering if perhaps I should just replace the batteries also... but I don't have what you're describing.

No I didn't, but it was waorking and then it was not used for several
weeks or a month. When I got it out it was then reading the red A. So
there wasn't any time in between that I had to check it.

I would definitely say replace your batteries before anything else.

PS - my bad batteries were the original ones supplied by 3D World and had
been in since about November and shot about 20 rolls of film.

Mine are also the original batteries - so I'll have to get some new ones and see what happens. i've only shot 4 or 5 rolls in it so far, hopefully one doesn't have to replace batteries that often, if that's the problem at all.

thanks,

vladimir
