Wow, I didn't realize that I would create such a stir about DOF, which was not my intent, but simply to provide a link to others in the group that I thought had a new & interesting way of looking at DOF.
I will say that I generally try to use a small enough aperture to provide good DOF without diffraction. Using a MF camera (without view camera style swings & tilts L ), f/8 or f/11 does provide some limitations. However, the huge size of the finished product still allows me to tolerate a little diffraction at f/16 or f/22 (really can't tell that there is diffraction in most cases) when viewed in a viewer when I decide to use such a small aperture. When something is clearly out of focus due to lack of DOF, it is painfully obvious in these huge stereo chromes (unless that was my intent in the first place).
Shoot more MF3D!
Thanx.
