Subject: MF3D at NSA?

Dennis Green is on the planning committee for the NSA convention in
Grand Rapids. He currently has room for a medium format meeting on
Friday, but needs a volunteer to organize it.

Is there anyone here that is planning on attending the convention and
could organize a one hour meeting of the MF3D enthusiasts? I
unfortunately will not be attending.

Please contact Dennis at dennisgreen@comcast.net. The NSA site is at:

http://2008.nsa3d.org/

BTW, please post any information on MF3D activities on this list as well.

Thanks,
Sam

i rarely go to the mall, but yesterday we were going by one and i
couldn't resist a ride on the carousel horses, but i digress here.
close to the carousel was a set up of four 3d public viewers and they
looked like MF. you plopped a quarter in the slot and 10 views would
rotate automatically. (the first one ate my money and didn't show any
views)but the second one worked and the pictures all appeared to be of
oriental origin. does anyone know if world 3d is behind these, or has
anyone else seen them? there was not a logo on them. there were about
12 of them in all in different places in the mall, usually grouped in
clusters of 4. they also had adjustable height but not focusing, etc.
we found the views a bit hard to view but it was surprising to see them.
and the carousel horse ride was fun :)

I suspect you were seeing a 3D World product. I call them the "3D
World Carousel Viewer"
http://www.3dworld.cn/en/ProductDetails.aspx?productId=2

I've wanted to get one but I don't think it would fly through the
house-finance-committee right now :P

Since I didn't see any group responses, I'll ask the more relevant
question:

Are there ANY MF3Ders attending this year's convention? If not, there
seems little need of a meeting, right?

I am attending and I will have the usual 3D World products (camera,
viewers, slides, etc) for sale.

I will not be able to make it this year.

Unless there is a significant decrease in the price of oil,
air travel from Juneau will be too expensive (and too
unpleasant) for me to attend. I'd like to go but I just
don't see how I can swing it.

I was looking forward to another high-visibility venue for
MF3D. I feel that, even more important than being a time
when MF3Ders can talk to each other, a couple of specific
viewer-circle times would give newbies a chance to see what
_big_ views look like. If we could get even a single folio
there with someone to look after it and pass the viewer, I
think it would be a big benefit to keep our art-form visible.

What about in the exhibit-room? It would be great to have
Sam's wonderful exhibit viewer back in the gallery. What
about a couple of carousel viewers? They aren't as sexy as
Sam's creation but they are simpler to set up and much
easier to ship.

The NSA did not want to purchase (or even accept as a donation) Sam's
MF Museum Viewer so I bought it. As you know I am not going to be able
to make the convention so the viewer won't be there either. *{;-(
