Subject: Fw: Improvement of the new viewer

I received this information from 3D World regarding the new viewer. The
viewer will be modified to have the focus "pushed back" by 5mm. I think
this is good news.. This change will be made right away and will affect
my order. The interocular will not be changed.

The company was to make the new viewer suitable for both short-sighted and
presbyopic people, and it turned out it is not enough for most of the
presbyopic people. Consider that most of the users are presbyopic, the
company decided to move the lenses far way from the slide 5mm more. In
this case, it will fit more presbyopic customers, but it will sacrifice
those who are short-sighted. So please do inform those who are
sort-sighted before they put an order. All the viewers ordered from now on
will have this change.

Regarding the other problem, the lens spacing, we fully understand it is
good to be 64mm to 69mm. They actually had considered that in the
beginning to expend it to around 68mm, however, they had to consider the
whole structure as well and it will be high cost and time consuming to
change to 69mm, so the company decided to maintain the original design.

You think it is good news?   For me, this is GREAT news (I get to actually remove something from my to-do list without doing it - woo hoo!)

Being near-sighted, this is sad news indeed.  :-(

Mike K.

P.S. - I seem to be behind on my presbyopic progression.

That was fast! Let's hear it for 3DWorld!

Given that the existing interocular adjustment range includes 65mm
(ideal for mounts that have a 62mm window separation), they've
addressed the greater of two problems by extending the focus range -
and we didn't have to wait long at all for that modification. I'm impressed.

Thank you 3DWorld! And thank you George for achieving *effective*
communications!

Well Mike K., you might be able to find some of the "defective" first
batch viewers :). But I think there is plenty of focusing range for mild
near-slightness in the "redisigned" viewers.

More good news from China... My viewers have been shipped. I expect to
ship the prepaid orders in about a week. I will hold the $75 price for
this first batch of viewers for members of this list. I see that my
competitor is selling the same viewers for $93 :)
