Yesterday my Don Lopp Sputnik lens hood fell apart after years of
banging around in my camera bag while attached to the camera. While I
intend to try and reassemble them (my first attempt with super glue
didn't work out), I'm wondering if anyone knows of available lens
hoods for the Sputnik.

I've read of people using Series V hoods and adapters, but those hoods
are not readily available.

Back in April of 2007 on sell-3d, Elliott Swanson announced a
short-run of Sputnik lens hoods. You might contact him to
see if he has any left from that project.

I have a pair but am not ready to part with them.
Contact me off-list if you aren't able to access the sell-3d
archives or if you need contact information for Elliott.

Can you provide measurements?

At worst I can make some paper hoods out of flocking paper the way the
Rocky Mountain Memories Sputnik baffles were made.

I've put a couple of pictures at:
http://www.alaska.net/~thurston/images/IMG_8340.JPG
and
http://www.alaska.net/~thurston/images/IMG_8334.JPG

As for dimensions:
Outside diameter bell 45mm
Outside diameter base 30mm
Inside diameter bell 42mm
Depth from front edge to face of lens 20mm

Anything else I can do?

Brian, I too have wondered about lens hoods for the Sputnik and my solution is to buy two black funnels and trim to size. A set of three can be found at most Dollar Tree stores for $1 (two smaller and one larger funnel). The smaller funnels have a narrow cone shape which ought to be just fine (in theory). You may have to sand the inner surfaces to avoid reflections but it's a reasonable alternative.
