Hi

Has anyone run viewfinder cropping tests with the 3D world camera?

I had a test shoot last tues and used the lines on the viewfinder as max object limit and I was shooting way to wide.

I ran more tests yesterday and will get slides back this morning.

Shooting sculptures on both digital + 3d shortly and i"m worried about the size of the paper vs the objects. The standard 12 foot width should be fine but ....

Also could use a pointer to a site explaining best way to get an even back light? I'm supposed to blow out the whites on the on shots. Two heads won't cut it.

Cheers

I have on my cameras, but there are enough variations in the
camera/finders that you should do your own and draw your own
lines on your camera's glass.

Slap a piece of ground glass over the film-gate and compare
what you see there to what you see in the finder. Then make
pencil lines or put tape on the finder-glass to indicate
what you can capture.

Also be aware that the finder lens is 50(ish) mm higher than
the taking lenses. If you need critical composition on near
subjects, you will need to elevate your camera after
composing to bring the taking lenses up to the same level
the viewing lens was.

cheers.

results were intersting.

when shooting pretty close up there's more space around when shooting wider.

I'll keep all that in mind on tomorrow shoots.

Hi

So where did you get the ground glass? Is anyone selling the double frame size for the TL120?

A fellow photographer sent me a piece several years ago.
Before that, I just cut a piece of glass and "frosted" it
with some scotch/cello tape. Before that, I just put my tape
directly across the film-gate.

There really isn't any need to use a piece large enough to
cover both film gates. Tripod mount your camera and move a
6x6 piece of glass back and forth.
