Subject: MF3Der's at NSA Mesa?

From: Sam Smith
Are there any medium format stereo enthusiasts that are planning on attending the NSA 2009 convention in Mesa next month? Tom Dory, fellow MF3Der and convention chairman is looking for a volunteer to do a workshop for medium format stereo. I've done them in the past, as have David Kesner, David Lee, Alan Lewis, Dorothy, Chuck and several others in this group. They are quite fun, usually a little question and answer, display of equipment and sharing slides with a group of enthusiasts. I may not make it.

Anyone here willing to spend an hour for the cause? Please contact Tom Dory at tdory@cox.net

Thanks,

Sam

So, I take it there will not be any formal workshops on MF3d (or any other film based 3D for that matter), but will there be any other MF3d "presence" there? Who from this group plans to attend? I will be there, and could bring a few slides, but I really only shoot occasional MF with my rebuilt Spud. I have always enjoyed the rare opportunity to see great MF3d slides at conventions I have attended in the past. -Linda

I have to sit this one out even though it is west of the Mississippi.  I do get the impression that many others MF3Der's are as well.
Perhaps many of us don't want to fry our valuable large film in the extreme heat.   ;~))

Well Tom Dory will be there since he is part of the Convention Committee
and I know he just got the International Medium Format Folio from me, so
perhaps he can bring it and share?

Also, John Hart has made some MF transparencies of Jerry Oldaker's
fractal images and will have them on display in the Art Gallery.

I, unfortunately, will not be able to make it. I am exteremely bummed as
the quality and variety of stereo shows being presented this year is
astounding.

I will bring 10 STL viewers and three illuminated...

Are you going to set up the LEEP display?

Thursday 1-2 is probably the better option, or perhaps starting earlier e.g 12-2, overlapping the first timers meeting? Longer than an hour might be good if the idea is for viewing sessions and encouraging drop-ins. Or maybe 12-1:45 would be best?

I would be willing to be "coordinator" or whatever if there are no other volunteers, as long as I am not expected to be a MF expert 8-). I can bring some slides and a 3D world lighted viewer. -Linda
