 Hello fellow TL 120 users,
My granddaughter noticed something from her perspective looking up at the camera on a tripod. My chinese plastic camera has cracks on the lower left edge when looking at the camera back. Just below the closing back doors lower edge on the main body cracks are there that I never observed before. In all my days as of earning most my income from photography, no camera has ever cracked on any of the cameras before. Is anyone else observing a similar propogation?

My camera has cracks around some of the screws as if they had been
over tightened.

Yes, my TL-120 also has some similar cracking. Fortunately, nothing which will lead to light leaks, but
I agree still, a bit disturbing :-(

Mine has cracks in a number of places including around the screws.  It has been that way since I got it quite some time ago.  I was told by the manufacturer that it is only the black paint that is cracking.  Perhaps someone can verify that the external surfaces are in fact painted.

There's no paint on these (that I can see) and I have one screw with cracks - a finger nail will verify that there is no paint.

So should I be the one that dares say it? Quality of chinese manufacture! Everything down at the local 99cents store is made in china cause it's cheap; yes they have come a long way, and yes those lenses are still sharper than even my Rolleidoscope, but perhaps some things never really change... with apologies to all our friends at the TL-120 works...

Would it be wise to check the tightness of the screws and back them
off if they seemed to be over torqued? One could loosen them one by
one and then only snug them up to a reasonable level. How many
screws are involved with cracking issues? Were the cracks noticed on
new cameras, or do they appear with time? I don't have a TL-120 yet,
but need to know how to manage this when I do get one.

In my case I didn't notice them. I was trying (still) to sell the camera
and took pictures of it. they showed in the pictures because the flash
highlighted them.

If you want take a look at the images here, you will find some examples.

I didn't touch the screws, my buyer I think thoguht I took the lenses out
or something and backed off. I want to be able to say it is as shipped -
which it still is.

Mine had cracks in several places right out of the box.  The attachment of the prism finder was also cracked.  This not a camera you would want to drop!  Not that you would want to drop any camera.  In this case it would pretty disintegrate.  Takes very good pictures though.
