Subject: the sticky tape in 120mm slide mounts

Hello

Has anyone found a local suitable replacement? If so what is it? Or how do you prepare it?

My last order of mounts I've only discovered has a good 30 or so missing this key element and only half way through the 160 I ordered.

Suggestions?

Cheers

Are you talking about the 80x140mm plastic "3D World" mounts?

I know others like it, I can't find a work-flow or mounting
technique to effectively use the built-in double-stick tape.
I normally mount in the "other" half of these mounts and
just use the same gold "RMM3D" tape I use with my cardboard
mounts.

Hello Mark,

Personally, I use the same silver mylar tape that I used to use for my Realist format slides (I now use RBT mounts and don't need the tape).

yes. they come with thin double sided tape on top and bottom of the frame.

Contact Paul Talbot of Rocky Mountain Memories.

You are looking for the 1/4" gold mylar tape. I love it.

Please be aware that this is not double-stick. This is
high-adhesive, thin tape for securing the film chips to the
mount.

Thanks John, is that what you use for mounting you slides?

I do have some silver version of that which I used for masking down some shots when I shoot really close to the subject.

Hello Mark,

This silver mylar masking tape from CPM Delta 1 is what I use. The 3/8"
size works better for me than the 1/4" that I used to use for Realist
mounts. Most any photo store will carry it or you can find it on many
websites such as B&H Photo:

Hope that helps,

you think the slide makers would make sure there's some spare tape in with the mounts in the event they didn't apply it to all the shipped items.
