Where can I find those snap lid storage boxes for MF slides everyone had at the convention?

(Are these these the ones I'd need to order from NZ?) :-o

Everything I've come across in local stores is either too big or small.

There are some references in the mf3d archives (check last year) for
storage boxes. the ClikClack box I had was manufactured in New Zealand,
but I purchased it at a US store (probably The Container Store in
Seattle). David Lee had some different boxes which I forgot to flip over
to read the manufacturer. David's will hold the slides on edge in their
sleeves, but the ClickClack is too short to do that.

The boxes that I recently obtained to hold my medium format slides are from a company called "Really Useful Products." The website is:
http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/usa/
The boxes are available from Staples and Office Depot. The 1.6 litre size is the one to use. It will hold around 50 mounts.

I would be happy to buy and ship them for you. Contact me off list.

PS - I have not checked yet to see if any of my local stores carry them.

the link is in an earlier reply

They will ship for free to your local Home Depot for you to pick up, whereas the direct selling site charges $20 to ship more than 2 boxes!

This may be because I'm told these boxes do not nest together when empty! So they may be bulky to mail multiple ones out to remote areas.

Subject: Protective Sleeves
Date: 2010-07-30 19:38:21

John,

I talked to a man at a company called Atlantic Protective Pouches. He quoted me some prices for protective sleeves for the medium format slide mounts.

For 3 mil. .27 ea. for 1000, .24 ea. for 5000, .22 ea. for 10,000.
For 4 mil. .29 ea. for 1000, .25 ea. for 5000, .23 ea. for 10,000.

He says they will weld them at the top and bottom, not fold them.

Any thoughts on this.

David,

Optical quality is the primary concern. Does your slide
look as good with the sleeve on as off?

I just received 100 MF sleeves from someone selling on e-bay
for $14/100 (he has more) but I have yet to use any of them
so can't comment on their quality. They are folded at one
side (top or bottom). Most of the sleeves I have used have
the fold and I put it on the back at the top. Sam Smith had
some made that were welded at both top and bottom but were
rather tight with some mounts. They were good optically. If
you can find Sam, it would be good to get his input.

I could prob. go for a hundred if they check out OK with everyone else.

Another consideration is the amount of protection they give, and the resistance to "sticking" to the transparency.   MF images have much more area than 35mm.  As such, the sleeves are more likely to physically contact the surface of the film near the center, exacerbating the above effects.

I can't fault the ones I got years ago from RMM (or was it DDDalia?)But I only used a few of them and now have I no idea where the box went! So any replenishment from out there would be appreciated.
