A small local gallery  showed a lot of enthusiasm after seeing some of my MF slides. So I took and submitted 4 shots in their current "Summer in the City" theme (a crazy, costumed band at Baltimore Artfest). They were delighted with them and put them up with the other paintings and photos. It was nice to see someone work with me to introduce this format, tho' this was all decided on with just a few days notice.

The sleeved slides were left with  two 3D World STL viewers in a shadow box shelf. They said the insurance would handle any problems, and so didn't use my viewer-chained-to-the-wall suggestion (which is great, if they get stolen I can collect! :-) ) I arbitrarily stuck a $350 pricetag on each, including viewer.

The exhibit guide sheet handout gave instructions on how to load and view the slides. But of course, no one bothers looking at the handouts! So some people were just passing by the shadowbox on the wall, or may bend and just take a quick squint into the lens of the viewer against the wall. Seeing nothing, they just walked on.

Once intercepted and instructed, they seemed enthused and wanted to see the rest. So, I'm printing out this pic  I took at the opening and will place it on the wall next to the viewers so people will get a clue.

The response the gallery got from those who did see them made them consider an exclusive 3D show, or half show, in the future. They also brought up the possibility of having me co or guest-curate it. I've known enough gallery scenes, and interned at the Walter Art Museum, so maybe it may be a fun challenge.

I also have a more upscale NJ based gallery interested in a set to display, but they will want a better presentation / packaging option (of which we've had a few threads about here before). Of course, I have to come up with a larger, coherent series of top-quality shots first!

When I have done this, I provide one viewer per image and
seal the slide in.

The other b general observation is a 2D print on the wall of
what they will find in the viewer would probably help the
customer-attraction aspect.

Excellent! Please let us know how it works out

It took me five years to come up with the set of images I
displayed at Loveland this year :P I'm sure glad I'm not
trying to make a living at this :)

Yes, I assumed they'd just choose 2 pix and I'd seal them both. But, they wanted to show all 4 (the limit was officially 3). So, I left one viewer sealed and the other open for now. As long as the sleeves stay on, I'm not too worried about destruction. The director was suggesting a few better display ideas for the future. So, again, they want to show more, and in a better context.

While I liked the pieces well enough, they were still sort of like a commissioned theme to me, so I'm not too personally attached to them (yet).

Nevertheless, they will make fun additions to the MF folio in a future round - unless they sell(...insert hopeful/sarcastic tone here...)

when I show the drum viewer I need to put up a poster with a shot of someone looking into it so they can figure out how to use it. - I'm not kidding.

Last installation was at the DTI in London a couple weeks ago at a new trade association event/lecture to do with out of home game/entertainment centers.

Funny thing was the support staff at the DTI were spotting it and looking into too.

Had the nintendo demo staff with the 3ds at Sci-Fi London film festival somewhat miffed:
