Somebody must have tried this.

I have a Mamiya 645 Pro TL. I see that it basically has a 3-wire remote socket, although it requires an adapter. But I found the pinout somewhere and it seems to work as expected... short one pin and you get a half-press, short the other and it releases the shutter.

I know I can twin Canon SLR's by simply connecting the remote sockets. Has anybody tried this with late-model Mamiyas?

Suppose I could use a dual cable release, but much prefer wired.

After a moderate effort to get a good electro release system, I gave up and went back to a dual cable release. Good luck on going electric.

Well, I don't plan to get a second body/lens unless I'm fairly sure that it'll work.

From your reply, it sounds as if connecting the cameras pin-for-pin didn't work out? If I have to, I should be able to attach a Pocket Wizard to each, and trigger from a third one. At least I can test that with the one I have before buying a second body.

Another concern is lens matching... what are the odds that I'll get acceptable images from two identical used lenses? I've noticed few problems using Canon FD lenses, but maybe MF is less forgiving or more variable.

Anyway, still thinking about this... would like to try some MF hypers but would appreciate the benefit of others' experience.

Shutter sync is quite often a hit or miss proposition....  mainly because, electronically, the shutter lags can be different, and inconsistent.... I know on the Mamiya 7's I tied together electronically, they work well up to 1/250th....  if your shutter speeds are below 1/125th, I think manual releases are just as effective, assuming you have the plungers tweaked to the ideal lengths...
