Based on some on and off-list communication, I have decided
there is sufficient interest in MF3D sleeves to make another
run.

These are not the least expensive sleeves you will ever
find, but I don't think you will find a better product.
These are highly transparent, 3mil, seamless sleeves which
are suitable for use on 80x132 cardboard *as well as* 80x140
plastic mounts. These will be "seamless" sleeves identical
to those I offered in 2010 and Sam offered in 2007. If you
would like a sample, please contact me OFF LIST and I'll
mail you a couple.

Manufacturing cost has increased just a tad, and postage is
going to go up before this project is all done. This means
the price will be higher than it was in 2010.

For those in the US, the cost to you will be as follows:
Quant TotalCost
100 $ 41.97
200 $ 77.99
300 $118.12
400 $153.11
500 $182.95
600 $216.90
700 $243.66
800 $260.12
900 $281.73
1000 $301.28
These prices include US Mail delivery. For those outside the
US, I will happily work up a price. There are just too many
possibilities to permit me to do it on speculation.

I'm running this on a cost-recovery basis. My goal is to get
the sleeves in your hands without having to pay for the
privilege. The prices above are spreadsheet-driven based on
my costs.

If you would like to pre-order a specific quantity, contact
me OFF LIST with your name, shipping address and desired
quantity. This will be an actual commitment to purchase, not
just a letter of interest. Payment may be postponed until I
actually have sleeves ready to mail.

When I actually have product in hand, I will post here and
on sell-3D for another purchasing opportunity. At that time,
I will send off-list notes to anyone who previously
expressed an interest but has not placed an order.

John,
I am currently a Realist shooter, but have been following this group
for a while and have a strong interest in getting into medium
format. I'm sure protective sleeves are useful to keep dust and
finger prints off of precious film. But here's the question- do you
sleeve all of your MF slides, only your favorites, or maybe just the
ones that will be handled by others? And is there ever a problem
with a sleeve slightly degrading the view in a hand viewer?
Thanks,

If you're going to "get into it", you'd better get moving :)
Film is on the way out. I'm going to hang on as long as I
can afford it, but I think it won't be too many years before
I'm back to doing digital.

I've reached the point where I sleeve all of them. I don't
know, however, that this is the norm. I do it because I
frequently have stacks of slides kicking around my desk and
I don't want to have to deal with dust settling out on them.
I also find it much faster to just reach in one of my boxes
and pull out a stack of slides and not worry about landing a
finger on an image.

It increases the cost of each view, but I rationalize it on
the grounds that I don't create very many of them.

> And is there ever a problem
> with a sleeve slightly degrading the view in a hand viewer?

Have I sent you any samples? I forget to whom I've sent
them. If anyone wants a couple, give me a mailing address
and I'll put some in an envelope to you.

Yes. The sleeve degrades the view slightly. The "Sam Smith"
sleeves are better than the previous/less-expensive "RMM3D"
sleeves in this regard. But even with this, they add four
additional surfaces to reflect light and collect dust.

When I exhibited slides at the NSA convention in Colorado, I
removed the sleeves before installing them in the viewer.
When I _really_ want to luxuriate in one of my better
images, I take it out of the sleeve. But I really only have
a dozen or so worth this level of consumption.

Sleeves will degrade the images more as they get scratched.
A slide that has done a round in a traveling folio will have
its sleeve replaced when it returns. If it gets too bad, it
may get replaced part way through a folio trip.

The sleeves have finally arrived! The pricing didn't change
on me, so the prices below are what we have to work with.

For those who expressed interest earlier, I'll be digging
through my email and contacting you directly about the
quantities you requested.

For those who are now interested, please drop me a note
saying how many you would like. The pricing below includes
postage in the US. If you are elsewhere, specify a quantity
and a location and I will give you a cost before you commit.
If you are in the US, you may pay-pal this address directly
based on the pricing below and just give me a quantity and
shipping address.

Samples: If you'd like a couple of samples, send me your
mailing address OFF LIST and I'll get some out to you. No
fair asking me for fifty samples ;)

Concept: My goal is to move this entire order out to
photographers and break even in the process. PLEASE don't
grouch at me about the cost. I know these are expensive. If
you can find high quality sleeves elsewhere for less, buy 'em
and tell the rest of us where to get 'em. I'm doing this on a
cost-recovery business. Life is too short and our group is
too small to try to do this as a profit-making venture.

Payment: I like checks, cash, and pay-pal. If your name is
known to me, I'll probably ship you product and trust you'll
pay up. Our group is too small to harbor dead beats. If you'd
like to work out a trade, offer me some images.

Timing: I try to get stuff turned around in a couple of days.
I have not (to the best of my knowledge) stiffed anyone yet.
If anyone feels differently, please comment ON LIST.

I will order at least 200, but I am pretty sure I will adjust that number considerably in the near future When I count my slide mount supply. When do you need to know for sure?

If you want to be _sure_ the quantity you want is available,
I need to know before the middle of the week. But before you
go crazy with your pre-order amount, consider that this is a
commitment to purchase. If you tell me Tuesday you want 800,
I'm expecting you to actually take 800 off my hands.

Last time around (2012), I had only a few hundred more than
pre-order made. This time, my finances are in better shape
and am expecting to lay in some inventory. If you want to
commit to 200 and then request 600 more before the orders
ship, I expect I'll be able to cover that.

John;

I may have missed it; but what are the payment options? Only paypal? CC?

I will likely take 100, I still have some of the old RMM sleeves, but think I will need some more, as I have a bunch of slides I have not yet mounted...

Thanks

OK. I will commit to 300. I don't think I will sleeve every view, only
the good ones.

Thank you for your efforts. You are making this hobby much better, not
just with sleeves, but also with your investigations of cameras,
batteries, slide mount reviews and of course running the folio.

You didn't miss it because I didn't mention it. Most
importantly, I'm not looking for any money right now! Payment
will be required when your package of sleeves is ready to
ship to you.

When it comes time to settle up, I'm flexible. Paypal will
work. Checks are fine if they are for US dollars. Currency is
fine if you're willing to put it in the mail. Gold bullion is
accepted if that's what you like to use.

I know a lot of water has passed under the bridge since this topic last
came up, but here we go.... sleeves are available!

I quoted prices back in September. My costs are actually less than I
expected, so the new prices (for US delivery) are as follows:

Quant Total
100 $42.49
200 $77.48
300 $109.37
400 $143.33

The prices for larger quantities are available on request.
Prices for international customers are available on request..

I have contacted all of the pre-orders, and most of those will be going
in the mail tomorrow. If you pre-ordered and you haven't heard from me,
speak up. I didn't intend to ignore you.

Contact me OFF LIST if you would like a sample. I'm not greedy. I'm
happy to share, and I want you to know what you're getting. See below
for historical discussion of the product.

Contact me OFF LIST if you would like to order a pile of protective
sleeves for your MF3D needs.

Hi John,

I can't remember if I previously put in an order, but I don't think I did. I'll take 400 if you can spare them.

Thanks for doing this.
