Hi Everyone

Is there a similar thing for 120mm as there is for 35m slides. ie - plastic slide case for mounted slides?

How many do they hold and costs?

I' using tupper wear styled containers for day to day use which is fine, just want something more professional for bespoke sets.

Also is anyone UK based stocking and selling the plastic 120mm mounts?

Cheers

Are you talking about 80x140 mounts? I am not aware of any
plastic boxes made specifically for this mount.

I have some cardboard boxes made in Australia by Peter
Thomson which fit 10 80x140 mounts. You can read about them at:

If they suit your needs, I have plenty to spare. Drop me a
note. Maybe postage wouldn't bee too bad for a box of boxes.

The best plastic boxes I've found are from:

The 1.6 liter box is the one to use.

Here is one US source for these "really useful boxes" in the 1.6L size:

http://www.officemax.com/office-furniture/storage/general-storage-bins-totes/product-prod3490252

From google product search, it looks like these may be "in stock"  at OfficeMax for $3.99 and Office Depot for $3.69 locally. Interestingly, I can't find them at all in this size on Amazon.

The custom "3D treasures" boxes of course look more professonal, except for the problems John outlines about difficulties fitting sleeved mounts in the box. Life is full of compromises. Thanks for detailing all of this, John. -Linda

There is a case for storing rolled quarters that fits the 3d-world mounts perfectly.  I got mine from wizard coin supply.   Here it is:
http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/quarter-tube-storage-box-orange.html

You can remove the cardboard dividers one-by-one.  They just slide apart.  Then you will have two rows and you can leave spacers to group the slides into 5's or 10's or whatever.

It holds about 90 mounts total depending on how tight you want it.

It is heavy duty chipboard construction and works great.  At $7, you can't go wrong.

I wonder what the archival properties are for either of these box solutions - the notion being to keep dust, water, and fumes away from slide film emulsions.

I'm attracted to the plastic box for being water (resistant? tight?).
Chipboard box seems less likely to effuse hydrocarbon fumes.
Anybody have expertise or experience with this decision?
thanks
Boris
