Subject: NSA Convention plans?

From: John Thurston
I know that the NSA Convention is still months away, but I
have to start making plans now if I'm going to attend in July.
I'm trying to get motivated. Is anyone planning a spiff'n
display in the art gallery? Are you working on something new
in MF3D that you'll be passing around in hand viewers? I'm
looking for compelling reasons to make the effort (and spend
the money and time) to attend.

You should not use this as any reason to not go, but it looks like I am
not going to be able to make it this year.

However if you would like to use Sam's viewer display again we can talk
about making arrangements to get it down there and back.

Thank you for the offer, David. I'll have to look and see
what kind of content I have. I'm really not sure I have 12
new images worth showing, and it doesn't seem fair to
trundle the same old image set out a year later for the same
audience.

Maybe there'd be enough "consenting adults" :-) in the MF folios that would allow you to show some of their select works during the brief convention time. You'd have to reroute the folio(s) to your address before then. Or solicit us for some previous works we can spare.

I don't think I'll be able to make it out this year, but wouldn't object to having some of my (secured, credited) stuff on display.

(We gotta keep showing all those binary-heads what good ole E-6 can do best in it's most optimized format and display!)

I look after two MF3D North American folios. In years past, I
have made an effort to get the folios rerouted to members who
will be attending and who are willing to be the folio
guardians. This has not been for display in the gallery, but
an open pass-the-viewer session. If I am unable to attend
this year, I will query the folio members for volunteers to
be the guardians.

I also try to see that the MF3D Folio II makes it to the convention.
Maybe one of these years the convention will be in NYC and I'll bring
the folio myself.

I am expecting to go and hoping to drag Mandy along with. I should be able to make an MF3D presence felt there. But the more of us there the better. Hope y'all can make it.

Sorry, I'll miss you guys!

Too far and too expensive for me to attend. Plus, it interferes with my
first 100 mile running race, which is in the end of July.

I will see you in NSA 2013, in Michigan.

I'll be in Israel with most of my family members from July 5th-15th.  We're all converging there for an event.
The NSA Convention seems a little too close on the heels of that trip, but if I can some how swing it (book flight on points?) then I'll see some of you there.
If not, I'll be in Michigan next year for sure!

If it makes you feel any better, I will be running with my 3d camera, taking pictures along the way... Then, I will get the best pictures in a 3d show.... :)

I have two strong interests and I have managed to combine them! I am happy :)

And since this is "MF3D", you _will_ be running with a pair
of Hasselblads, right? One in each hand with a dual cable
release in your teeth should do it :) 'course advancing them
while on the move might be a little tough :(

Maybe you should consider a Fuji 645 instead. We had a great
series of cha-chas in MF3D FolioB last year. Philip Steinman
took his GA645w with him on a run.

Just so he gets a self portrait of his tongue hanging out after 99 miles. I can't even fathom running that far, especially the end of July, depending where you are.

Thanks John ;-)

If George wants to run and shoot 3D,
I'm probably the only 3D guy here that can keep up with him ;-)
3:28 at the LA Marathon this year, 3:27 last year
(I do it every year as Pace Leader of the 8 minute mile group for the LA Roadrunners..
training all year
http://www.lamarathon.com/roadrunners./

If I'm in a race though, I'd rather be shooting with
my little Panasonic 3D1, love this camera for family shots
of my 3 little kids.

Of course, the Fuji GA645 is my favorite though.

George if you are coming to NSA this year,
let's get together for an easy run together.

Cheers,
Philip
