I just shot a bunch of rolls at the 2012 WRAM show. I have one roll
of 120 E100G left.

I'm depressed.

Brain, sorry for your Kodak loss.....

If there is ONE saving grace from this, hopefully, it will keep Fuji in the game longer -
so at least there is ONE source of slide film..... agreed, very depressing how sharp the
downturn is, ya wonder what the future holds..... maybe film will become obsolete faster
than we all feared...

On top of this, Silvano's closed up shop in Toronto. That leaves only 2 labs still doing E6 here. Why do I get the feeling that I will soon be sending my last batch of slides to Dwayne's, just as I did with Kodachrome last year.

Don't worry, Timo;
There's still Burlington Camera on the fringe of Toronto!

I've been shooting Fuji E6 for a long time now, except for E200 which has been discontinued. Which of the remaining Kodak E6 films is worth stocking up on?
Thanks,
Steve

I wouldn't stock up on anything Kodak right now. I hope the company doesn't go under, but they have no interest in consumer films right now.

The only slide films Kodak has been making in 120 are E100G and E100VS, which features extra saturation. Can't say I care for VS films, Velvia wins in that category.

But in 35mm, I've been using E100G or Elite Chrome as an alternative to Fuji Astia. Astia has those warm skin tones, and Kodak's film is the next-best. But if you want to stock up on something, get some Astia. You should still be able to find it in MF (hurry, though).

Have to say though, Kodak slide films are better than we give them credit for. Try some E100G just for the nostalgia of using Kodak while you still can. Not quite as crisp as Provia, but a little more versatile because of the warmer color balance.

Yipes... just noticed that Ektachrome 120 sells for over $7/roll, Fuji is still about $5. Not a huge difference, but geez. In 35mm, Elite Chrome is $1-$2 a roll cheaper than Fuji.

The only Kodak E6 film I've used over the years was E200, just because it gave an extra stop. I think when Fuji 400X came out everyone just switched to that, although IMO E200 was less grainy - when shot at 200. As for 35mm, I used far more Kodachrome than any Kodak E6 product. I mourned the loss of Kodachrome and Kodak's B&W films: TechPan and PlusX more than 100G, VS and the late GX.
