Subject: Kodak E6 and Gamma Tech slide printingDate: 2012-03-08 11:20:22From: John Thurston
The news from Kodak (regarding their discontinuance of all
E6 film production) had me wondering about the prospects for
places like Gamma Tech.
You may recall, this is a company which I have used to
produce MF3D dupes by way of scann/film-recorder. I've been
fairly pleased with the images and very pleased with their
responsiveness and service. It sounds like they are taking
what steps they can to continue to provide their service.
I asked:
". . . you use Kodak E100G for all of your 120-format
slides. What are the prospects now that Kodak has said they
aren't going to make any more?"
Their response was:
"I have several hundred rolls of 120 in stock, but I also
have calibration already worked out for Fuji Provia 100F
film in 120, 4x5 and 8x10. The end of the Kodak films I see
more as a failure of Kodak rather than the end of film.
Kodak is still coating 35mm E100D (5285) and that film will
probably not be discontinued any time soon. They're still
making E6 chemistry, and I don't think Fuji is in the same
condition as Kodak, so that shouldn't be a problem for quite
a while. "
