Hello Ted,
I also have a Sputnik I would like you to do all this stuff to. My shutters are both locked open; I think it has to do with the timed shutter release mechanism , but not sure.
It also has a loose screw (like me, I guess) dictating that it be aimed at the ground, to allow the earth's gravitational pull to draw that screw out of the way that the aperture linking "wand" might pass and travel beyond  f=8 (either way). I can move it normally between f=8 and f=22, when it is above this point or between f4.5 and f8 when it is below it, but have to point it down and move the aperture linkage simultaneously to move it past this point from the low apertures to the high apertures,  and vice-versa.
It's not a huge inconvenience since I use the small apertures mostly for maximum dof, but I'm afraid that screw might be critical for something else, or let light in around it.
I'm in no hurry, so please let me know when you get that other one done, and are ready for this one (assuming you want to).
I have another one that I dropped and it has to be all taped up to use. (big chunks of bakelite are missing. )

Thanks,
Jon Hoggatt

I can do Sputnik repairs/overhauls. I charge $125 plus $10 shipping in the continental US.

I haven't done any for a while, but assuming all the parts are there, I can get the camera into good shooting condition. Overhaul includes:

Interior flocking
Seal the edges to prevent light leaks
Sync shutters and apertures
Set focus

I run a test roll through the camera to make sure the everything works.

Please email me if interested.

Thanks,
Ted

Your email reminds me that I need to say that I've never had success fixing self-timers on Sputniks. For those that don't work well, I just remove them.

I'll contact you off-list about sending it in. I've had email from group members here end up in my junk folder. So, please check there for mine if it doesn't appear in your inbox.

Thanks.

That's the best advice. Just yank 'em out.
I wish I had done that to mine when I last had it open.
