Subject: Sputnik - Fresnel Question

If you take a look at eBay Item # 270726083902, you'll see that it's a Fresnel meant to be dropped right on top of a ground glass screen. So here's my question: could you core out the fresnel portion of a 35mm screen and drop it in the middle of the Sputnik screen and get a fresnel effect? This would then render the Sputnik screen somewhat useful.
Thanks,
Steve

I don't think this is gonna help you. If you look at your
Spud, you will see that the "ground glass" isn't a screen at
all. It's actually a lens. There is only one little spot of
ground glass on it.

But, if you want to try it, there is an easier way than
scrapping a camera. Go to the dime store and pick up a
plastic magnifying book mark. These are inexpensive Fresnel
lenses. Cut a section from it to fit. Drop it in and see what
you get. You can also find cred-card sized lenses, but I've
found the bookmarks are less expensive. I'd try it for you,
but my Spud is packed right now in preparation for heading to
California.

I use a square of fresnel on top of the glass of my
Rolleidoscop. It makes the screen much brighter, but the
'scop has a complete viewing lens and actual ground glass screen.

John,
I'm talking about a fresnel just the size of that little spot or maybe a little bigger.
