Just got back this evening from this years last MD Renaissance Fair. The light, weather and mood always seems just right as the season winds down.

There was no shortage of (mostly middle-aged) shutterbugs there. All with nice and nicer rigs, with long and longer lens.
But just whip out the huge 3-Eyed Beastie, and the p*ssing contest is all over :-) While I was taking pix of revelers, photogs were taking pix of my camera!

Curious people, and their questions, followed me and I ran out of cards. I'd recite the 3D introductory spiel: how it's not made anymore (but try eBay); what a pain they are to use; how the results can't yet be beat by digital. Of course, all I had to demo for them was the screen of my accessory W3. (adding the 3DWorld viewer and samples to my gear during last year's trip was just too much).

After lugging and dangling everything all day, the evening ended with my trusty Vivitar 285 of 15+ years performing the notorious hotfoot somersault snap. At least it waited until my last roll was finished.

Sleep well, my bright, fragile friend....:-<

I hate that. Why did Vivitar put such a crappy foot on such a nice
flash? As I'm sure you know, there are still replacement feet available.

I have this on one of my 285s.

It looks like you can also get an exact replacement for the original
crappy shoe.

There's a flock of the foot replacements on eBay now, some are offering 10 at a time, NOS.
