I see that 3dstereo still has some cardboard mounts, according to their website but are any new ones being made. Outside of me is there any demand for new ones?
Thanks,
Steve

You can use plastic sheets made for APS prints (i.e. 4"x7") to store MF slide mounts. At one time Sam Smith was selling them but his were sized for the RMM mounts and didn't cover the whole of the 3D World mounts.

Why would sleeves sized for 140mm long mounts not be suitable for 132mm long mounts? If someone didn't like the excess plastic, they could use scissors.

HI Scott, Steve,
3D World mounts are crude ?
The best,
DON
I have some of the very first 3D World MF mounts and yes, I think they could have been better. The molding was imprecise and the adhesive questionable. I'm very happy with my early camera and the lighted viewer but since the subject of mounts came up I hoped someone might have found some higher quality versions somewhere. Maybe the 3D World mounts got better later, I don't know. I hope 3D World comes back to life. Their camera takes excellent 3D images in my opinion.
Scott
Hello Scott:
I thank you for your timely response. Yes, the 3D World mounts did get, to be much, much better. Several years ago, Sam Smith of Alberta, Canada- was able to explain to 3D World, what changes needed to be made so as to make the mounts, to be user friendly. Among other changes, the window aperture spacing had to be changed so that they could be used, comfortably, in a MF viewer. My guess is that you, unfortunately, got your mounts along with your early production model TL-120. The good mounts do have Sam Smiths' name printed on each mount. I was not aware that any of the early mounts were still in circulation. I was surprised to read that Steven didn't know of the problems in the early mounts, as the many problems were well publicized on MF-3D. Apparently you are a lucky newcomer to medium format 3D ?
I hope you will join one of the MF folios. I consider MF 3D to be the ultimate form of 3D, for at least the next 10 plus years. Film availability may be a problem in the years ahead.
The very best,
DON
Hi Don, I still have a stockpile of the first (non Sam Smith) 3D stereo mounts. I extract the aluminum masks from 645 Gepe mounts and with some modification, I can place them in the original 3D World mounts with the appropriate separation. However, for square images, the later mounts are superior.

Steve,
The very best,The small 6x4.5 3D slide size came as a surprise to me, considering that you recently asked about altering the Sputnik film windows so that it would be enabled to take 6x7 3D slides. You, apparently, did not realize that the Sputniks' normal-lens/shutter separation, of 62mm, must be enlarged, up to being at least 70mm. Without the lens separation increase, the Sputnik 6x7, would have still been limited to taking 56mm x 56mm 3D slides!

It might be a good idea to check with Larry Heyda, who may be able to make up some MF mounts if the demand is great enough.
