    {fiendish laugh}I have created a monster! Now, my TL120-55 (A
TL120-1 with 55mm Mamiya lenses) sports an external flash
connector, _and_ an external power connector.

Is the cold sapping the energy from those wimpy SR44 cells?
You wanna do 6 hour exposures? No problemo. You supply the
power from any battery pack between 4V and 32V.

I'm planning on doing the same to my TL120-1 and post a write
up with photos on my web page, but I had to share :)

Very cool! Way to go, John. If anybody could pull that off, you could.

    John,
Very nice indeed. This is something I'd like to do with my TL120-1 as well, I can't wait to see more details!

Arrgh! I investigated my camera yesterday and discovered I messed up.
There is a parasitic drain in my voltage regulator which is draining the
standard batteries :( I'm gonna have to rewire... maybe include a
switch... maybe move the regulator out of the camera and into the power
cable... I duno yet, but it's back to the drawing board and I'm very bummed.

This doesn't change any of the background information about batteries I
contributed yesterday. That is still valid.

If it worked perfectly first time, it wouldn't be research...

But if my findings had been peer-reviewed _before_ I hacked up my
camera, I may have been able to save myself a whole bunch of hassle :(

I think I may be able to insert a blocking diode between my voltage
regulator and the stock battery. I see a couple of Schottky diodes with
a forward drop of only .45v. My regulator is putting out 3.3v so I think
I can afford that loss. At the voltages I'm working, the reverse current
leakage is down around .01 microamps. Yeah, that's some leakage, but
    it's pretty darned small leakage.

I have a few diodes kicking around the bench. I probably have something
close enough for experimenting prior to placing a parts order.

It's alive!!! I've added a small diode to prevent the
parasitic drain, and it works very nicely. Any parasitic
current is below threshold of my meter. I have a new (more
sensitive) meter on order, and I'll be checking my work with
that as soon as it arrives.

I've added a new page to my web site with details and more
    photos.

Drop me a note if you have any questions or notice any
    problems with my notes.

My next project is to incorporate this regulated input into
an adapter plate with a battery-plug. The goal is to let me
(or you) use external power by dropping the button cells,
screwing a plate to the bottom of the camera, and connecting
a battery to a jack on the plate. The plate would be threaded
to accept whatever tripod mount you liked.
