My TL-120 shutter speed dial detent is no longer working. I have been turning it to the speed I want, and a getting perfect exposure, but I was wondering about the adjustment. Is it now infinitely variable? Can I select shutter speeds between the normally detented speeds and still have accurate exposure with the internal meter?

I suspect so. When I've been inside them, I've seen no
indication of a resistor array tied to the speed dial. I'm
confident it is handled with a simple (and inexpensive)
wiper on a potentiometer.

I suggest the following test:

+ adjust the composition of your view so that the indicated
"correct" metering is just _barely_ under the "overexposed" LED

+ Does the over-exposed LED light if you gently touch the
speed dial in the direction of a slower speed?

But the only way you will know for sure is to slap a shutter
timer in place of the film and test it.

Should have done that slight adjustment test first. It is quite obvious that it is a simple potentiometer wiper. As you turn the speed dial, the leds shift gradually from minus to green to plus, even fading out as you slide from one setting to the next.

Sounds like you probably have a continuous shutter speed
dial now. Kinda like a Rolleidoscop :)

This will be a minor problem if my internal meter fails, or if I want
to use a waist level finder to save weight. On the other hand, I can
set my preferred aperture and literally dial in the exact shutter speed.
